Description
The SureFire SOCOM556-SB2 is a dedicated short-barrel 5.56mm rifle suppressor engineered for hosts with barrels around 10 inches or shorter. Instead of simply shortening a conventional suppressor, SureFire designed the SB2 around the harsher pressure, blast, and unburned-powder environment created by compact 5.56 SBRs and personal-defense-style rifle platforms.
High-Temperature Alloy Construction
The SOCOM556-SB2 measures approximately 6.4 inches long, 1.5 inches in diameter, and weighs about 17 ounces. Its high-temperature alloy and stainless-steel components are built for strength and durability under demanding heat and pressure. SureFire uses precision welding and protective exterior treatments to create a sealed hard-use suppressor suitable for repeated firing on short 5.56 hosts.
Short-Barrel Optimization & Fast-Attach Mounting
SureFire specifically identifies the SB2 for 5.56 barrels of 10 inches or shorter, where muzzle pressure is significantly higher than on a 14.5- or 16-inch carbine. The suppressor uses the SOCOM Fast-Attach system with compatible SureFire muzzle devices, adding secure lockup and repeatable mounting. The SB2 is full-auto rated and designed to reduce sound, flash, blast, and shooter-facing gas on compact rifle platforms.
