It’s older ammunition but still works. A lot better drfence loads out today like Speer Gold Dot and Hornady Critical Defense and Federal HST. Federal quit manufacturing the 115 gr defense load. I’m surprised we can still get the 9BP. You can still get the Hydra Shok bullet but you have to step up to Atleast 124 gr bullet. Which is not a bad thing. The Federal 9mm 135 gr Hydra Shok Deep is a newer Hydra Shok bullet design and performs very well. As for the 9BP it it use to be the big kid on the block but don’t underestimate it. As long as we can still get it it’s a good defense load still today. If you like the 115 gr you can get the PMC Bronze 9B 115 gr JHP. It’s built on Federals standards. They even have a Bronze 9A matched 115 gr FMJ. Being this is a older design it works better through 4” plus barrels. I wouldn’t use it through anything less than 4”’barrel length. A 3” barrel you probably won’t get much better penetration than 12” through bare gel but it will expand. Through denim it has known to clog and not expand. Works well through a 4” plus barrel with good velocity and 15” plus penetration. It’s what it was built for.
